Belize Lobster Fest is as you’d imagine it, a giant party with lobster as the main dish. The season for this beloved shellfish starts June 15th and that is usually when these parties kick up to celebrate the opening of the season.
There is a total of four Belize Lobster Fest parties (crazy right?) San Pedro kicks it off in typical fashion as the party central and goes for an entire week until Caye Caulker and Plascencia take up their grills and put on in a similar manner followed all by Belize City in early July.
Even though San Pedro shrugs off an entire week of partying, the real meat of the event (no pun intended) is in its birthplace, Caye caulker where the prices are always better, the boat rides are cheaper and the local teens have a pageant to win the coveted “Miss Lobsterfest” title. Plascencia, not to be outdone, boasts the best beaches in Belize and gets in on the action in a big way.
Anywhere you go for Lobsterfest you’re going to be met by live music, and happy locals and you’ll be guaranteed to get amazing prices on all manner of lobster dishes, from grilled to lobster thermidor, kebabs, ceviche, and chowder, you’ll not feel the need to go to Red Lobster in quite some time.
Itinerary
First day
Arrival at 8 a.m. local time at the Phillip Goldson International Airport where you will be air taxied to the Island of Caye Caulker via Tropic Air. You will be transported to the Barefoot Caye Caulker Hotel. Check in, relax, and unwind.
Today we are going Scuba diving at our famous barrier where you will be able to explore a part of Mother Nature’s best-kept secrets, lush corals, and marine life to explore. You also get to enjoy the shark and ray alley. Ending the day with fine dining and nightlife.
Third-Day
Today we get to enjoy the day exploring the island with the free bicycle service from the hotel where this go-slow island meets festive activities. We also get to be a part of the festivities commemorating the start of the Lobster season. You get to experience lobsters in all their glory prepared in a variety of ways that will tickle the taste buds
Fourth Day
Today we start with a Tour of our world-famous Blue Hole which highlights our reef a lot more and you also get to explore it either scuba diving or snorkeling with the Turneffe Flats right in reach. You also get to explore the Half-moon Caye that boasts our Red-footed Booby Bird sanctuary. Then return to another night of festivities as the Lobster Fest continues.
Day Seven – Final Day
Today before you check out, you will be furnished with a massage. We then head back to the airstrip to be flown back to the international airport where we say our final farewell.
